Sanjeev was born and did his schooling from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He did his B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He joined Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) but subsequently started his own business. He joined the Rotary Club of Muzaffarpur in 1999-2000 and undertook various responsibilities in Rotary. He was Club Secretary in 2003-2004 & Club President in 2007-2008. He has worked extensively as Regional Revenue Coordinator for the eradication of Polio from 2008 to 2010. He was appointed AG in 2010-2011, Regional AG in 2011-2012, District Membership Chair in 2012-2013, Co-chair RLI in 2013-2014, Joint Secretary (North) in 2014-15,District Communication Officer in 2015-16, District Secretary in 2016-17,AG in 2017-18 & District Public Image Chair in 2018-2019. He was the Lead Organizer in various District Conferences, Polio Seminars, AGTS and PET-SETS held in India and abroad. He has attended numerous Rotary and Rotaract conferences, AGTS, PETSSETS and RI Conventions.
He has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to Rotary by — The outstanding Secretary Award, Distinguished President Award, Best Assistant Governor Award, Best Cooperative Project Award, Significant Achievement Award, Club Builder Award, Pillar of Strength Award, & Star Rotarian of Dist.3250 Award.
He is presently involved in the manufacturing sector (C.M.U. of Parle-G Biscuits & Parle Rusk).
He is happily married to Poonam Thakur (M. A. in Psychology). She is actively associated with Inner Wheel and she was District Chairman (2021-2022) of IWD-325. He is blessed with a son Mridul who is married to Siwani. They are working with Amazon and Deloitte respectively and live in Bangalore.
He loves reading, undertaking long road trips, and meeting new people.
